The concept behind the “Say No To The Police State” mixtape is to speak out against the conduct of a minority element of Toronto’s Police Force and other local examples of abuse of power like the G20 meeting of July 2010.

The reason we want to create this piece of art and spread awareness about this issue is because on the night of the United in Flow Vol. 1 live event, one of our supporters, a former Euphonic Sound intern, was beat up and demoralized by the Toronto police outside of Club XS.

While we were all inside the club being inspired by the spirit of our community and celebrating our unity – two of our supporters were bullied by the police (one of them ended up with fractured ribs), left outside in the cold in a patty wagon for over an hour (with jackets still in the club)…then they were brought to the police station and held over night (where they were denied a phone call).
