The Kickoff Recap
Cats: Hip Hop Events Toronto|I sincerely hope that all of you reading this at least got the chance to check out Dundas Square this weekend for the Unity Charity Kickoff Event, because I will try my best, but the retelling simply will not be enough to describe it.

We knew back when United In Flow first got going that Unity Charity was the organization we wanted to help out. The Kickoff was a testimony to all of the hard work the Unity people have been putting in over the past year. First we got to see the kids from the after school programs that Unity puts on break dance. This was wicked. Even Unity’s fearless leader Mike Prosserman a.k.a BBoy Piecez took to the floor and showed us some of his signature moves.

We also got to see Roshawn and HeAt..remember them? Both have worked with Unity and both have come down to Euphonic Sound to record..oh yeah..and they have submitted auditions for United In Flow!

Heat and Scott Jackson killed the beat. Then the King of the Dot guys showed up…with t-shirts with joint KOTD and UIF logos made by Pardonledopeness. Good stuff no?

But cool shirts and reuniting with people aside, the Kickoff Event proves that hip hop is a power to be reckoned with. There were hundreds of people in Dundas Square on Saturday (even though it POURED rain) who were there to support these very talented kids, and the very talented bigger kids who, through years of hard work and perseverance have managed to turn Unity into what it is. “No Excuses, No Limits”. This thing is only going to get bigger. Until then, keep your eye on the UIF website to see who gets chosen for the mixtape! Watch out Toronto.

Don’t forget about our Final Five Audition Day on August 14th as well. That’s all for now, check back in a bit to see our exclusive video content from the day.
As always, facebook, twitter…holler at us.
